The Best and Worst Friendships in Home Alone

It’s really a wonder that Kevin was left home alone twice, but I for one sure are glad that it happened because the holidays wouldn’t be the same without these movies! These movies have so many examples of relationships but we’re going to focus on friendships and specifically focus on one example of a healthy friendship and one example of an unhealthy friendship.

Healthy friendships have similar attributes of healthy relationships! Some of the most important ones, IMO, are support, kindness, and empathy. Turns out- there is an example of a friendship like this in Home Alone 2. The Pigeon Lady and Kevin have an unforgettable relationship that revolves around support, their instant bond, and kindness. Find friends that you can have a relationship like this!

Unhealthy friendships are also similar to unhealthy dating relationships in ways like putdowns, no support, and making the friend feel unsupported. They bring another meaning to partners in crime!  I think we can all guess where I’m going with this one- Harry and Marv are exactly like the unhealthy friendship that I’m explaining! Their general disregard for each other and their feelings and safety makes us wonder why they even hangout with each other anymore. Their verbally abusive tendencies- especially Harry to Marv is alarming. We hope that one day, these two can stop their unhealthy tendencies including terrorizing children and stealing, but until then, they are great examples of how not to treat your friends or partners.
