This blog comic serves to provide a visual narrative into the reality of abusive teen relationships. It highlights the subtleties of abuse, and shows how Bill’s controlling behavior escalates over time. As their relationship goes from the honeymoon period to more controlling behaviors like jealousy, isolation, and manipulation; Amber’s friends and family have a hard time recognizing the warning signs. In future episodes, the blog comic seeks to raise awareness about the impact of gender roles, normalized violence, and why people become abusive. It will also display the ways a friend can offer support, as well as discuss case management and intervention services such as TAP808.
